I hope you have read it all. I have had a passion to write it and enjoyed that very much. Reliving many moments I experienced in Tampa has been a treat for me. I hope I have gotten that across through this blog.
More important, I hope that I have gotten you to thinking, either in disagreement or, better, sending your thoughts off into new directions that will advance one or another of the ideas expressed here. The best ones came from so many different people from so many different parts of the world.
This globalization thing is so much more than a vague concept. I hope I have drawn you into it.
This General Conference will not go down in history as having voted for anything positive or helpful to a world that needs transforming.
It was more like a baby church taking feeble steps into an international world and falling on its rump. It is still way out of balance with its big “head” (Council of Bishops?). And its right arm not really caring whether or not we can keep our balance. And its left not always grasping much beyond a small agenda.
There is a core of saints upon whom the future really depends, more so than the dollars of the church being manipulated. I pray that they will be strong and will be respected more by the body of the Church than head or arms. That is my hope for the future.
